Lukas Jiao

Lukas is the design director of the Shanghai studio. He has 16 years of experience in international and Chinese projects. Lukas has rich design experience in office building, shopping mall and urban complex. His work is rooted in the development of strong, singular concepts, which permeate the project from the basic massing to the finer details of curtain wall design.

He is also an urban design expert, specializing in high-density mixed communities and urban renewal projects. With backgrounds in architecture and urban design, he combines the concerns of these two majors to form a well-established approach to urban design. Lukas’ projects pays attention to the basic principles of local characteristics, livability and sustainability.

Prior to joining JH, Lukas was a senior designer at New York Architects Firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.  He is one of the key designers of the Jingan Kerry Center in Shanghai. Opened in 2016, the 340,000-square-meter urban complex is one of Shanghai's most successful commercial properties. He also participated in the newly built and famous landmark project Hudson Yards development in New York, which is the largest private real estate development project in American history.

Lukas graduated from Tongji University in Shanghai and Technische Universitaet Darmstadt in Germany. He lived and worked in Germany and the United States for many years, and is proficient in English and German.
